Epidemiologist — Patient Population Sizing | $175–$275/hr | Remote (US)

Mercor is partnering with a leading biotech and pharma research team to support expert human-evaluation work focused on commercial drugs and drug-development programs. We are seeking an experienced epidemiologist for a paid pilot engagement, with strong potential for recurring work as the project scales.

About the Role

In this role, you will create and critique analytical rubrics used to evaluate drug programs, with a particular focus on patient population sizing. Your expertise will help ensure that population estimates are methodologically sound, well-sourced, and commercially relevant.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and critique rubrics that analyze commercial drugs and drug-development programs
• Size patient populations for given drugs or indications, covering prevalence, incidence, and the full funnel from diagnosed to treated to addressable populations
• Evaluate whether patient-population estimates are credible and appropriately sourced, identifying over- or under-counting
• Apply this methodology across the pilot's defined set of drugs and indications

Requirements

• US-based epidemiologist with 5+ years of practising experience
• Graduate degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, or public health
• Familiarity with biotech and pharma drug-development programs
• Proven experience translating real-world data — including claims, EHR, and registries — into patient funnels

Engagement Details

• Duration: Approximately 10–20 hours over a 1–2 week pilot
• Format: Fully remote, US-based
• Rate: $175–$275/hr depending on experience
