In-House Counsel (Japan) | $140–150/hr | Remote (Japan)

Mercor is partnering with a leading legal AI company to evaluate how well AI systems respond to real Japanese law questions. We are seeking experienced in-house counsel to serve as expert reviewers, comparing AI-generated legal responses and scoring them against a standardized rubric.

What You'll Do

• Run identical prompts across two AI (LLM) platforms and compare outputs side by side
• Score each AI response against a standardized evaluation rubric provided by the client
• Submit concise, well-reasoned written feedback for every evaluation completed

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as in-house legal counsel practicing in Japan
• Strong command of Japanese law, with particular expertise in commercial and contract matters
• Sharp attention to detail and precise written communication skills
• Ability to work independently, adhering to rubric guidelines and deadlines

Logistics

• Initial commitment: approximately 10 hours, with strong potential for ongoing work
• Confidentiality: all work is covered under a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)
• Compensation: USD $140–$150 per hour
