Nuclear Medicine Physicist / Cyclotron RSO | $65–75/hr | Worldwide Remote

Mercor is building a panel of radiological safety experts to evaluate and red-team frontier AI models. This task-based contractor role is ideal for experienced nuclear medicine physicists, cyclotron RSOs, or medical physicists with hands-on isotope custody and dual-use domain expertise.

What You'll Do

• Write challenging single-turn prompts across three classification levels: benign, dual-use, and adversarial
• Evaluate AI model responses against a defined policy standard and provide structured judgments
• Author reference answers with clear technical reasoning accessible to non-specialists

Why This Role Matters

Nuclear medicine sits at the sharpest edge of the dual-use problem. The same isotope that underpins cancer therapy can be misused; the same shielding calculation that protects a worker can conceal a source. A model that refuses a routine dose question fails just as badly as one that answers something it shouldn't. We need practitioners — not generalists — to draw that line reliably.

Ideal Backgrounds

• Nuclear medicine or radiopharmacy physicist — therapy dosimetry, I-131, Lu-177, Y-90, patient release criteria
• Cyclotron or radiochemistry facility RSO — PET isotope production, target handling, hot-cell operations
• Medical physicist with brachytherapy source custody — HDR/LDR sources, inventory and source exchange
• Radiopharmaceutical production and QC under GMP or equivalent quality systems
• Authorised Medical Physicist or Authorised User support on a medical radioactive materials licence

Additional Requirements

This is writing-intensive work. Every judgment requires a written rationale that a non-specialist can follow. Prior technical writing, published research, or expert witness experience is a strong signal — please include a writing sample or link with your application.

You will be reading and writing about misuse scenarios for sustained periods. Mercor briefs all experts on this in advance, and you may pause or step away at any time without penalty.
