Power Systems Engineer at Mercor

Power Systems Engineer | $70/hr | Worldwide Remote

Mercor is seeking experienced Power Systems Engineers with hands-on industry backgrounds to review and annotate complex electrical engineering tasks. This is a flexible, part-time contract role with an immediate start, ideal for seasoned professionals looking to apply their expertise in a meaningful and well-compensated capacity.

What You'll Do

• Review and evaluate tasks spanning substation design, transmission design, and generation interconnection
• Assess circuit and control design, switchgear and protection systems, single-line diagrams, and power distribution scenarios
• Verify engineering assumptions, calculations, code compliance, standards usage, and equipment data
• Identify ambiguities, missing constraints, and unrealistic deliverables
• Produce clear, well-structured written technical findings

Requirements

• Mandatory: Recent, hands-on experience in one or more of the following — substation design, transmission design, or generation interconnection
• Minimum 1 year of relevant industry experience
• Strong depth in circuit design: protection and controls, switchgear, and power distribution calculations
• Background at an EPC contractor, utility, transmission owner, power generation developer, ISO/RTO, or owner's engineering group
• Resume must clearly reflect relevant power systems experience

Engagement Details

• Approximately 10–20 hours per week to start
• Immediate availability preferred
• Fully remote and flexible
