Scientific Computing Expert (Life Sciences) at Turing
posted 1 hour agoScientific Computing Expert (Life Sciences) | $300 per approved task | Remote
Turing, a company providing training data, evaluations and engineering talent to frontier AI labs, is looking for Computational Life Sciences experts with strong scientific programming skills. You will design complex, realistic tasks for evaluating AI agents in the life sciences — testing whether AI systems can perform authentic multi-step scientific work, not simply answer scientific questions.
What you will do
- Design challenging, realistic agentic scientific workflows across the life sciences, requiring multiple computational steps rather than single-script or question-answer solutions.
- Develop realistic input files, scientific datasets, instructions, constraints and expected deliverables.
- Build tasks where AI agents must inspect data, select appropriate methods, execute analyses, troubleshoot problems and synthesize results.
- Create reproducible expert solutions, objectively verifiable ground truths and robust automated or semi-automated grading criteria.
- Validate scientific assumptions, calculations, code, intermediate outputs and final answers, ensuring tasks are self-contained and executable in controlled, network-isolated environments.
What we are looking for
- Ph.D., postdoctoral or equivalent research experience in the life sciences, with strong demonstrated computational and scientific-programming experience.
- Strong scientific programming experience, particularly in Python.
- Experience performing multi-step computational scientific analyses.
- Ability to independently validate both scientific reasoning and computational outputs.
- Expertise in one or more of: bioinformatics, computational genomics, systems biology, computational neuroscience, biostatistics, computational drug discovery, computational biochemistry, structural biology, protein engineering or computational microbiology.
Pay, schedule and contract details
- Pay: $300 per approved task.
- Schedule: At least 6 hours per day and a minimum of 40 hours per week, with a 4-hour overlap with Pacific Standard Time (PST).
- Type: Contractor assignment (no medical or paid leave).
- Duration: 5 weeks, with an expected start date next week.
