Security Engineer — Cryptanalysis/RE at AfterQuery

Security Engineer (Cryptanalysis / Reverse Engineering) | $100–$170/hr | Worldwide Remote

AFTERQUERY is assembling a research cohort of senior security domain experts to help evaluate how frontier AI models reason through complex, real-world problems. This is a unique opportunity to shape the benchmark for AI performance in your area of deep expertise — spanning cryptanalysis and reverse engineering.

This is research and evaluation work, not production engineering. Your role is to define what "correct" and "excellent" look like on problems you already know deeply, and to provide structured, high-quality technical feedback.

What You'll Do

• Evaluate AI model outputs on hard, expert-level security problems
• Author clear technical explanations and structured feedback
• Define quality standards and rubrics for cryptanalysis and reverse engineering tasks
• Work independently in an asynchronous, remote environment

Required Qualifications

• Currently or recently active in the field — hands-on experience required, not purely academic
• Deep expertise in cryptanalysis, reverse engineering, or both
• Strong written communication skills — you'll be producing detailed technical documentation and feedback
• Comfortable working independently in a remote, async setting

Compensation

$100–$170/hr, depending on experience and scope of engagement.
