Korean AI Audio Audit Specialist | $25/hr | Worldwide Remote

Mercor is seeking native and near-native Korean speakers to audit AI training data for Amazon's Sonic audio collections. This is careful, detail-oriented listening and evaluation work — not content production. If you have a sharp ear, strong English writing skills, and a disciplined approach to applying rubrics, this role is for you.

What You'll Do

You will work across two Amazon Sonic audit collections:

  • Multilingual Transcription Audit: Listen to recordings of human or agent speech, evaluate annotator-produced transcriptions for accuracy, apply standardized error codes, assign pass/fail verdicts, and write clear rationale for each decision.
  • Forced Alignment Audit: Review word-level audio segments generated by an automated system. Verify that timestamps accurately match spoken word boundaries and that reference transcriptions reflect the spoken form. Correct errors by adjusting boundaries, splitting or merging segments, or adding/removing segments as needed.

Each task runs at 5 audit hours, and every judgment requires a written explanation — this is quality-focused work, not high-volume output.

Who We're Looking For

  • Native or near-native Korean fluency (South Korean variety required — born/raised in region or 5+ years of residence). This is a hard requirement.
  • Strong English reading and writing skills — all guidelines, error codes, and audit rationale are in English.
  • Ability to apply written rubrics consistently across hundreds of judgments without relying on instinct.
  • Sharp listening skills — able to distinguish similar sounds, identify word boundaries in continuous speech, and differentiate acoustic ambiguity from annotator error.

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Prior experience in transcription, subtitling, localization, linguistic annotation, or QA
  • Background in AI data annotation or model evaluation
  • Phonetics or linguistics training
  • Familiarity with audio editing or waveform tools

Getting Started

All contractors complete a short calibration phase before production work begins to ensure alignment with audit standards.

How to apply for this role
  • Upload your resume — keep it up-to-date and in English. Mercor will auto-fill your profile from it.
  • Complete the AI interview — a 15-minute conversation about your experience. Be ready to discuss specific projects and challenges you've solved.
  • Submit your application — only about 20% of applicants finish all the steps, so completing yours puts you well ahead.
