Chinese Linguistic Expert | $50/hr | Part Time | Remote

Mercor is hiring Chinese Linguistic Experts for an AI research project run in partnership with a leading research lab. The work focuses on evaluating how well a large language model (LLM) performs on Chinese-language tasks and on curating high-quality Chinese linguistic data to train and improve the model's understanding and generation.

What the work involves

• Evaluating the quality and accuracy of LLM-generated Chinese text across use cases such as translation, summarization, dialogue, and grammar correction.
• Editing, refining, or rewriting Chinese content to meet linguistic and cultural standards.
• Annotating Chinese text for grammatical, syntactic, and semantic features.
• Identifying model errors and language gaps, and collaborating with AI researchers to improve LLM performance.
• Providing detailed linguistic feedback and analysis to guide ongoing model training.

Who it's for

• Native or near-native fluency in Chinese, with a strong command of grammar, syntax, and stylistics.
• Professional experience in translation, editing, linguistic annotation, or NLP data work in Chinese.
• A good understanding of linguistic nuances, regional variations, and context-appropriate usage.
• Strong attention to detail, including the ability to spot subtle errors or unnatural phrasing.
• Clear communication skills and experience working in distributed, remote teams.
• Interest in AI and LLM-driven language technologies is preferred but not required.

Pay, schedule and location

This is a part-time, fully remote role paying $50 per hour.
