Civil Engineer Reviewer at Mercor
posted 1 hour agoCivil Engineer Reviewer | $90/hr | Remote
Mercor is seeking senior civil engineering professionals to review evaluation tasks for AI systems operating in large-scale infrastructure and construction contexts. The workflows are calibrated to the design complexity, public safety stakes, and regulatory scope of major infrastructure projects and large public/private construction programs.
Reviewers assess civil engineering scenarios on one of two standards tracks: an International track (Eurocodes and ISO) or a US track (ASCE, ACI, AISC, AASHTO). Experts qualified in either or both tracks are encouraged to apply.
What the work involves
- Review civil engineering tasks, reference outputs, and supporting artifacts for technical accuracy, realism, and professional complexity.
- Independently check engineering calculations, design assumptions, analyses, and conclusions against the applicable standards track.
- Review design documentation and relevant CAD or simulation evidence to identify errors, omissions, and inconsistent assumptions.
- Evaluate grading rubrics for clarity, specificity, and whether they distinguish sound professional engineering judgment from generic textbook recall.
- Provide clear written feedback and verify that revisions resolve the identified issues.
Who it's for
- 5+ years working as a civil engineer or engineering lead.
- Direct ownership of large-scale infrastructure designs, permitting processes, or construction project delivery.
- Fluency in civil engineering tooling and methodologies, plus an understanding of how regulatory approvals, environmental review (NEPA or an international equivalent), and public agency oversight actually work.
- A recognized professional engineering credential is strongly preferred (US PE, or an international equivalent such as CEng, EUR ING, or P.Eng). Prior rubric, engineering-training curriculum, or design documentation authorship is a plus.
Pay and schedule
Hourly contract at $90/hr. Fully remote, open to experts qualified on either the International or US standards track.
