Mechanical Engineer Reviewer at Mercor
posted 58 minutes agoMechanical Engineer Reviewer | $90/hr | Contractor | Remote
Mercor is seeking senior mechanical engineering professionals to review evaluation tasks for AI systems operating in Fortune 500 enterprise product design and manufacturing contexts. Workflows are calibrated to the design complexity, safety stakes and production scale of Fortune 500 and large industrial manufacturers. Tasks follow two standards tracks — a US track (ASME) and an international track (ISO) — and experts qualified in either or both are encouraged to apply.
What the work involves
- Review mechanical engineering tasks, reference outputs and supporting artifacts for technical accuracy, realism and professional complexity.
- Independently check engineering calculations, design assumptions, analyses and conclusions against the applicable standards track.
- Review design documentation and relevant CAD or simulation evidence to identify errors, omissions and inconsistent assumptions.
- Evaluate grading rubrics for clarity and specificity, including whether they distinguish sound professional engineering judgment from generic textbook recall.
- Provide clear written feedback and verify that revisions resolve the identified issues.
Who this role is for
- 5+ years working as a mechanical engineer or engineering lead at a Fortune 500 or major industrial, automotive, aerospace or manufacturing company (for example GE, Boeing, Caterpillar, Ford, Honeywell, Siemens, Bosch, Rolls-Royce or Mitsubishi Heavy Industries).
- Direct ownership of large-scale product designs, manufacturing processes or engineering certification programs.
- Fluency in enterprise mechanical engineering tooling and methodologies, plus an understanding of how safety standards, regulatory certification (ASME, ISO, FAA, FDA) and cross-functional design governance work in practice.
Nice to have
- A professional engineering credential (US PE or an international equivalent such as CEng or EUR ING).
- Prior authorship of rubrics, engineering training curricula or design documentation.
Pay and location
$90/hr on an hourly contract basis. The role is fully remote.
How to apply for this role
- Upload your resume — keep it up-to-date and in English. Mercor will auto-fill your profile from it.
- Complete the AI interview — a 15-minute conversation about your experience. Be ready to discuss specific projects and challenges you've solved.
- Submit your application — only about 20% of applicants finish all the steps, so completing yours puts you well ahead.
