Construction Expert | $50–100/hr | Worldwide Remote | Project-Based Contract

AFTERQUERY, an early-stage Y Combinator-backed company, is seeking skilled construction professionals for a short-term, remote contract engagement. This role is ideal for engineers with 1–3 years of experience who want flexible, high-impact work across diverse construction disciplines — all on their own schedule.

Work spans the next 2–3 weeks, is fully asynchronous, and requires an estimated 10–20 hours per week for accepted projects. Tasks are assigned on a project-by-project basis, giving you full control over your workload.

What You'll Do

• Review and interpret construction documents, drawings, and specifications
• Support construction planning and technical evaluation across varied project types
• Solve field-level problems and respond to technical questions on active projects
• Apply knowledge of construction sequencing, scheduling, materials, and building codes

Required Qualifications

• 1–3 years of professional experience as a construction engineer, project engineer, field engineer, or similar role
• Strong working knowledge of construction documents, drawings, and specifications
• Ability to independently assess and resolve technical questions on active projects
• Solid understanding of construction fundamentals: sequencing, scheduling, materials, and building codes
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience across multiple project types (commercial, residential, industrial, or infrastructure)
• Familiarity with IBC, ACI, AISC, ASCE, or OSHA standards
• Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, or Primavera P6
• Background in both office and field roles, or experience coordinating across trades and disciplines
