Corporate/M&A Lawyer (Japan) | $140–150/hr | Remote in Japan

Mercor is partnering with a leading legal AI company to evaluate how well AI systems handle real questions of Japanese corporate and M&A law. We are seeking experienced Japanese corporate/M&A lawyers to serve as expert reviewers, comparing AI-generated legal responses and scoring them against a standardized rubric.

What You'll Do

• Run identical prompts across two AI (LLM) platforms and compare outputs side by side
• Score each AI response using a standardized evaluation rubric provided by the team
• Submit concise, well-reasoned written feedback for every evaluation
• Work independently and meet project deadlines

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of law firm experience (3+ preferred) in corporate/M&A or transactional practice
• In-house candidates considered only if transitioned within the last 2 years from a qualifying law firm role
• Qualified to practise law in Japan, with strong command of Japanese corporate and commercial law
• Native or fluent Japanese with precise written communication skills

Logistics

• Initial commitment: approximately 10 hours, with strong potential for ongoing work
• All work is covered by a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)
