Transactional / Regulatory Associate | $180–200/hr | Worldwide Remote

Mercor is seeking experienced Transactional or Regulatory Associates to support a cutting-edge AI lab developing benchmarks that evaluate AI systems on real-world legal research tasks. In this role, you will craft practitioner-level research questions grounded in statutory and regulatory interpretation — helping shape the future of AI-driven legal reasoning.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft realistic, practitioner-level research questions arising from:
  • Corporate transactions
  • Securities regulation
  • Administrative law
  • Compliance and regulatory frameworks
• Incorporate jurisdiction-specific statutory and regulatory interpretation into each question
• Frame issues requiring synthesis of statutory text, agency guidance, case law, and legislative history
• Ensure all questions reflect genuine client matters — not academic hypotheticals

Requirements

• 4–7+ years of law firm experience in transactional or regulatory practice
• Strong background in statutory and regulatory interpretation
• Experience researching federal and/or state regulatory frameworks
• Ability to clearly scope and articulate legal issues for research purposes

Nice to Have

• Direct experience interacting with regulatory agencies
• Background in highly regulated industries such as financial services, healthcare, or energy
• Prior involvement in legal tech or AI-related initiatives
