Civil / Survey Engineer | $45–60/hr | Remote (US)

Join a growing evaluation project focused on construction and property intelligence. You'll author structured tasks rooted in real site, civil, and survey work — writing both the task prompt and the correct answer, which is then verified by a peer reviewer in your discipline.

What You'll Be Building

Tasks are drawn from authentic site, civil, and survey scenarios, including:

• Civil grading, erosion & sediment control, and stormwater design plan review
• Roadway plan checks and work-zone/traffic control plan review
• Utility service drawing review and floodplain permit review
• Civil RFI response review and landscape ordinance/tree protection review
• Earthwork quantity verification and stockpile volume certification
• ALTA Table A survey items and title survey exception review
• Closing survey setback review and elevation certificate photo checks
• Topographic map review, map stack reading, and historic aerial/Sanborn map dating
• Assessor sketch verification

Who We're Looking For

• Currently or recently working as a civil engineer, land development engineer, land surveyor, or geospatial/Phase I environmental analyst
• PE in Civil Engineering or PLS (required for survey and mapping tasks)
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in the role; 8+ years strongly preferred
• US-based, working to US standards, state DOT, or local land development practice
• Comfortable navigating drawing sets, aerials, topographic maps, and parcel data

• Reviewed submittals for an agency or DOT
• Mentored EITs or survey crews
• Carried projects through agency resubmittal cycles
• Worked across multiple jurisdictions and can articulate what each checks differently

Probably Not a Fit

• GIS analysts without engineered drawing review experience
• Drone pilots without survey credentials
• Environmental scientists focused on sampling rather than site plan review
• CAD technicians without design or review responsibility

Compensation is $45–$60/hr based on experience, with opportunities to grow your rate as the project scales.
