Join a growing project building a high-quality evaluation dataset for the construction and property industry. You'll author realistic, structured tasks drawn from real permit review work — writing correction letters, review decisions, and marked-up plan sets — with a second reviewer in your discipline verifying each task before it ships.

What You'll Be Building

Tasks rooted in real-world permit review scenarios, including:

• Building plans examiner and code consultant plan review
• Third-party and private provider plan review
• Accessibility and ICC A117.1 compliance review
• Energy code drawing checks (IECC)
• Occupancy classification and change-of-use analysis
• Zoning site plan review and permit intake completeness screening
• As-built vs. permitted condition deviation review
• Specialty occupancy review: healthcare, schools, food service, and public pools

Who We're Looking For

• Current or recent building department plans examiner, third-party/private provider plan reviewer, or code consultant
• ICC Building Plans Examiner certification (B1, B2, or B3), or equivalent AHJ/third-party plan review experience
• 3+ years of hands-on plan review experience in US model code jurisdictions (IBC, IEBC, IECC, ICC A117.1) — 8+ years preferred
• Proficient in marking up and measuring plan sets using Bluebeam Revu or equivalent software
• No degree requirement

• Trained junior examiners or mentored plan review staff
• Written or maintained comment libraries or correction templates
• Performed QA on other reviewers' work
• Worked across multiple code editions and jurisdictions with the ability to articulate key differences

Probably Not a Fit

This role is not suited for general contractors, superintendents without plan review responsibility, estimators, CAD drafters, or permit expediters who file applications but do not review them.

Compensation

Paid hourly at $45–$60/hr depending on experience, with a clear path to grow your rate as the project scales.
