Insurance Policy Analyst at AfterQuery

Insurance Policy Analyst | $50–100/hr | Fully Remote | Contract (2–3 Weeks)

AfterQuery, a Y Combinator-backed AI research lab, is seeking experienced insurance policy professionals for a short-term, remote contract engagement. This project-based role involves 10–20 hours per week of asynchronous work over the next 2–3 weeks, offering exceptional pay and meaningful portfolio-building experience across a variety of insurance lines.

What You'll Do

• Review and interpret policy language, coverage forms, endorsements, and exclusions across multiple lines of business
• Analyze coverage determinations, policy comparisons, gap assessments, and regulatory compliance
• Evaluate whether policy interpretations and coverage conclusions are accurate, well-supported, and consistent with industry standards
• Document technical reasoning and judgments clearly and reproducibly
• Complete asynchronous, project-based assignments on a flexible schedule

Required Qualifications

• 1–3 years of professional experience as a policy analyst, coverage analyst, policy services specialist, compliance analyst, or similar role
• Strong working knowledge of policy structure: declarations, insuring agreements, conditions, exclusions, and endorsements
• Demonstrated ability to independently interpret policy language and support coverage conclusions with clear reasoning
• Solid understanding of insurance fundamentals including forms, filings, rating factors, limits, deductibles, and regulatory requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, Business, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience across multiple lines such as property & casualty, commercial, life, health, or specialty lines
• Industry designations or progress toward CPCU, AINS, API, ARM, or relevant state licenses
• Familiarity with ISO forms, state filing requirements, or NAIC model law frameworks
• Exposure to policy administration tools such as Guidewire, Duck Creek, or Applied Epic
