About the Role

Mercor is actively seeking experienced Senior Software Engineers with a passion for modern software development and substantial experience in open-source projects. You will play a crucial role in contributing to frontier AI models at a premier AI research lab.

You have:

• Deep technical expertise in at least one of the following languages: Rust, Ruby, Go, C++, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, Python, or C.

• 3+ years of professional industry experience working extensively with one or more of these languages.

• Alternatively, significant contributions to complex, large-scale open-source projects.

• Availability to commit at least 10 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Engage directly with open-source repositories, contributing high-quality, maintainable code.

• Collaborate asynchronously with a globally distributed team.

• Ensure your contributions align with the strategic goals of frontier AI model development.

Work Environment

• Fully remote and asynchronous—set your own working schedule.

• Flexible workload: Minimum commitment of 10 hours per week with potential expansion up to 40 hours per week.

Compensation and Legal

• Competitive compensation aligned with industry standards: $100–$210/hour (varies by experience and geographic location).

• Classified as an independent contractor (at-will) for Mercor.

• Primarily recruiting candidates in the U.S., Canada, and Europe, though exceptional candidates from other regions may be considered.

• Currently unable to support candidates requiring H1-B or STEM OPT sponsorship.

• The advertised pay range applies specifically to U.S.-based applicants; compensation for other geographies will vary but remain competitive.
