Mercor is seeking experienced European Humanities Experts specializing in French, Italian, German, or Yiddish studies for a short-term, high-impact academic evaluation project. Your expertise will support the validation and refinement of graduate-level assessment questions focused on literature, film, art history, linguistics, philosophy, and cultural studies, ensuring academic rigor and cultural sensitivity.
You will review and enhance the clarity, accuracy, and depth of assessment questions across key areas:
French Literature & Culture: Francophone studies, classical and modern literature, cinema, postcolonial theory.
Italian Renaissance & Art History: Humanism, visual arts, historical contexts, influential artists.
German Studies: Literature (Goethe to Grass), linguistics, mythology, critical theory, intellectual history.
Yiddish Studies: Literary traditions, cultural heritage, language evolution, diasporic identity.
Evaluate questions involving textual analysis, film critique, philosophical arguments, and cultural theories.
Ensure academic accuracy and adherence to European humanities standards.
Provide detailed, evidence-based feedback and recommendations for improvements.
Confirm that test items meet disciplinary norms and analytic clarity.
Bachelor’s, Master's, or PhD degree in French Studies, Italian Studies, German Studies, Comparative Literature, or related fields.
Extensive knowledge of European literary, cultural, philosophical traditions.
Experience teaching or developing humanities content at the undergraduate or graduate level.
Familiarity with critical theory, historicism, and linguistic scholarship.
Excellent written communication skills with strong academic precision.
Degree in a relevant humanities discipline.
At least 2 years of academic, instructional, or editorial experience.
Proven expertise in French/Francophone Literature & Cinema, Italian Renaissance & Art History, German Literature & Philosophy, or Yiddish Studies.
Strong analytical and evaluative skills.
Fully remote, asynchronous, flexible schedule.
Approximately 20 hours of work over 1 week.
